TEF French Resident Card
TEF Carte de résident (French Evaluation Test for French residency card) is an instrument of international standard used to assess the level of French of non-Francophones. The test is designed, distributed and administered by the CCIP : Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Paris. Inflexyon French examination centre in Lyon holds approximately one TEF Carte de résident exam session each month.
Since 2018, anyone under the age of 65 applying for the first time for a 10-year residence permit (resident card) must have a certified level of French equivalent to level A2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. This applies to each of the four language skills (written and oral comprehension, written and oral production).
TEF “Carte de résident” is composed of 4 parts :
- oral comprehension – approximately 10 minutes
- oral expression – approximately 10 minutes
- written comprehension – approximately 30 minutes
- written expression – approximately 20 minutes
Inflexyon offers the electronic version of TEF Carte de résident. The certificate with the results and level is available approximately one month after the test and it is valid for 2 years.
